They represent the aesthetic preferences of the leaders which were undoubtedly partly influenced by the libertarian conditions abroad. These symbols represented the politics of the Revolution and the nascent Filipino government. These hand-drawn symbols shed light on the meaning and contexts of the elements found in the stamps and the flags of the Revolution. Prior to the aforesaid usages, these symbols were initially employed as hand-drawn symbols in pre-Revolution documents, evident on the Katipunan documents deposited in the Archivo General Militar de Madrid of the Instituto de Historia y Cultura and in the Emmanuel Encarnacion collection. These were stamped on important documents from the founding of the society in 1892 until 1897, and made as emblems rallied in the battlefields since the outbreak of the Philippine Revolution in August 1896. ![]() Although preoccupied by the Revolution, the Katipunan failed not to introduce symbols that would carry their ideologies and aspirations. ![]()
